hull 600 Thankful

Dumke, Carver & Allison

Dearborn, MI

cdumke@comcast.net

My wife and I sail out of Gibraltar, Michigan and throughout Lake Erie. This boat was my father's pride and joy for over 25 years. He sailed her on the Hudson River and Long Island Sound for about 14 years. Then moved to Florida and sailed her throughout southwest Florida on the Gulf of Mexico up until about 5 years ago. Her atomic four is a boat anchor somewhere and a new Universal diesel is her replacement. She currently has green sunbrella canvass - most of which needs replacement. She has survived a couple hurricanes - the worst being a direct hit by Hurricane Charlie a few years ago. Aside from a few minor scars, she came through relatively well. Last May we moved her to Gibraltar and after a few months of repairs and minor upgrades and a lot of varnish, we sailed her in northwestern Lake Erie through last October. More repairs, a lot more varnish, a few canvass repairs/replacements and we expect to sail a full season this year - and further into Lake Erie. We would love to hear from other Triton owners near us and not so near. We love this boat and have every intention of keeping her sailing for many years to come.

hull 601 Alulquoy

Tracy, Thomas

Ventura, CA

triton601@sbcglobal.net

Update: Hull #601, Alulquoy, just got new main cabin windows. I decided on a slightly tinted Plexiglass, as recommended by the American Plastics Corporation, located in Camarillo, CA. I provided them with an old window, and they cut out 4 new ones. I decided to through-bolt the new windows, using the original frames. I drilled out the original threads on the outboard frame, countersunk the holes, and then inserted new machine screws from the outside to in, finishing off with an acorn nut on the inside. The end result looks great, and is stronger than the original in my view. I will try to forward some pictures as available.

hull 682 Northwind

Neisingh, Frank

Rockland, ME

enneisingh@gmail.com

Boat was formerly owned by Frank Alla, who passed away September, 2004. As I knew Frank, and knew how much he loved his Triton (which he had for at least 20 years plus, and how meticulous he was, I was not able to pass up the opportunity to buy her in December, 2004. He kept the boat on Cape Cod at Parker?s Boat Yard in Catumet for many years. She was documented in Boston, but as I own a house in Rockland, and will be moving there this summer, she is now documented out of Rockland, ME and has been there since last spring. Journey?s End Marina fitted out a new rudder, a new Yanmar diesel, and fixed some other bits and pieces, but basically was ready to go (after last year?s lousy spring weather) for a couple of sailing shakedown day trips into Penobscot Bay. Not enough, but enough to get going for a hopefully more extensive sailing season this year. So, I anticipate meeting other Triton owners on the waters of the coast of Maine. I?ll be moored in Rockland harbor from this point forward.
